OFFICE OF SURFACE WATER TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM NO. 89.18

Subject: EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES--Current-meter measurements--air-
line and wet-line corrections in
meters

Attached are correction sheets to replace tables 6 and 8 (air-line
and wet-line corrections in meters), pages 162 and 165, in Water-
Supply Paper (WSP) 2175, volume 1. Minor errors have been
detected in the original tables. The same erroneous tables were
printed in the World Meteorological Organization's (WMO) stream-
gaging manual. The wet-line-correction errors were reported by
R. W. Herschy of the United Kingdom.

The air-line and wet-line corrections in feet (tables 5 and 7,
pages 161 and 164 in WSP 2175) are correct.

Correction sheets have been sent to the U.S. Geological Survey
Books and Open-File Reports Section to be inserted in existing
stocks of WSP 2175. The corrections will be made in any subse-
quent reprintings. The correction sheets also have been sent to
the WMO for correction of their manual. Please bring these
corrections to the attention of all personnel in your office and
others who may have need for information on air-line and wet-line
corrections.
