SURFACE WATER BRANCH TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM NO. 77.12

Subject: PUBLICATIONS - Report "Computation of records of
streamflow at control structures" by Dannie L. Collins

The enclosed report documents the hydraulic theory and outlines
procedures for gaging streamflow at dams. The procedures have
been used successfully at several dams having a wide variety of
flow-controlling devices including gates, turbines, emergency
spillways, and nagivation locks. Two examples are provided in the
report.

The outlined procedures have worked satisfactorily at all
structures investigated to date.

The theory and computational routines provided in this report are
the basis for computer program E466, ADR DAMS PRIMARY. Guidelines
are available from the Automatic Data Section for use of that
program.
