SURFACE WATER BRANCH TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM NO. 77.07

Subject: PUBLICATIONS - Report "Flood-Frequency - Expected
and Unexpected Probabilities," by D. M. Thomas

The enclosed report compares the attributes and characteristics of
flood-frequency curves computed with and without an "expected
probability" adjustment. This report should be a useful reference
for understanding and explaining the differences in the two types
of curves that are now computed and displayed by our Log Pearson
Type III computer program E675.

Please bring the report to the attention of those persons
responsible for using or computing flood-frequency curves.
