OFFICE OF SURFACE WATER TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM 2011.07

SUBJECT: Availability of on-line Training Course, “Procedures for running levels at gaging stations--Training Course SW1683”

The Office of Surface Water is pleased to announce the availability of a new training course, “Procedures for running levels at gaging station”. Using narrated slide presentations and field-based video clips, this on-line course illustrates how methods presented in Techniques and Methods Report 3-A19, "Levels at Gaging Stations", by T. A. Kenney should be implemented. The availability and importance of Techniques and Methods Report 3-A19 was summarized in Office of Surface Water Technical Memorandum 2001.05.

The course contains modules on the following topics:

The course is available at:

http://training.usgs.gov/TEL/Nolan/Levels/Index.html

While this course is designed primarily as a resource to aid in successfully implementing procedures in Techniques and Methods Report 3-A19, USGS and other Department of Interior (DOI) employees can get official credit for taking the course by registering for course (SW1683) in DOILearn (http://www.doi.gov/doilearn/index.cfm). We estimate that it will take about 2 hours of contact time to complete.
