OFFICE OF GROUND WATER TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM NO. 88.04

Subject: PUBLICATIONS--Report, "Selected reports that include
computer programs produced by the U.S.
                        Geological Survey for simulation of
ground-water flow and quality" by Charles
                        A. Appel and Thomas E. Reilly

The attached report, recently released as Water-Resources
Investigations Report 87-4271, provides information on 52 selected
reports that document numerical models that simulate ground-water
flow and quality. The information given for each report includes
a brief description of the field conditions that the program can
simulate, the numerical approximation procedures used, an
indication of the extent of past field applications of the
program, and where to request copies of the report and, in some
cases, the computer code.

While this compilation of selected reports is intended primarily
for your information, it also may be useful in responding to
requests from outside of the Water Resources Division for
information on computer programs available for analyzing ground-
water flow and quality problems.

We recommend that this report be distributed to the appropriate
Project Chiefs, and other technical and management personnel
concerned with ground-water flow and quality.

                               of Ground Water
