GROUND WATER BRANCH TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM NO. 81.03

Subject: GROUND WATER--Update of solute-transport model

The attached "update note" of August 26, 1981, documents several
recent changes to the 2-D solute-transport model that is
documented in U.S. Geological Survey Techniques of Water-Resources
Investigations, Book 7, Chapter C2. Implementing the changes will
require the deletion of 46 Fortran Statements and the insertion of
90 new ones. These inserted statements are available on cards
from the Ground Water Branch. The revised version of the program
is accessible for use or copying on the Reston MULTICS. The new
source code is in segment moc2.fortran and the object code is in
segment moc2 of directory >udd>Transport>LKonikow.

Note that if you are using the version of the program that uses
the strongly implicit procedure (SIP) to solve the flow equation,
rather than the documented ADI routine, several additional changes
will be required in the SIP algorithm to keep it compatible with
the present changes in the rest of the program.

Technical questions regarding use of the model should continue to
be referred to Leonard Konikow of the Research staff in Reston.
