GROUND WATER BRANCH TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM NO. 80.02
Subject: PUBLICATIONS--Book: "Electrical Resistivity Evaluations
at Solid Waste Disposal Facilities,"
U.S. EPA, Office of Water & Waste
Management, SW-729, December 1978
A limited number of copies of the subject book has been furnished
to the Ground Water Branch by the Solid Waste office of EPA. The
book was prepared under contract by Geraghty and Miller, Inc., and
serves as a good introduction to the use of electrical resistivity
methods in locating and defining waste plumes. The book points
out several typical sites where the method should work well. It
also cites examples of sites where the method will not work or
will be inconclusive.
Personnel involved in near-surface waste studies should be
familiar with the methods and concepts which, in some cases, can
be used to guide drilling and construction of observation wells;
in other cases, the method may supplement wells and reduce the
amount of drilling required.
Additional copies will eventually be available from NTIS. In the
meantime, desperately needed copies may be obtained by Xeroxing.
