Subject:  PUBLICATIONS--Books:  "Groundwater," by R. A. Freeze and
                        J. A. Cherry.

The subject book, published this year by Prentice-Hall, Inc.,
represents a significant improvement over previous text books on
ground water.  The Branch has arranged to furnish each District
library one copy of the book.  They were mailed directly from the
publisher.

Personnel involved in design and conduct of ground-water
investigations should be familiar with, and have ready access to,
this up-to-date text.  You will find that it is readable, well
illustrated, and comprehensive, including coverage of hydraulics,
geology, geochemistry, and supporting modeling methods.
