Subject: PUBLICATIONS - Report by J. B. Robertson entitled
"Digital modeling of radioactive and
chemical waste transport in the Snake
River Plain aquifer at the National
Reactor Testing Station, Idaho".
The attached publication should be brought to the particular
attention of personnel concerned with the subsurface migration of
waste fluids. It describes some unique studies at the National
Reactor Testing Station, Idaho, in which digital modeling
techniques were successfully applied to waste solute transport
problems in ground water. The models helped in both the analysis
and prediction of radioactive and chemical waste migration in the
large basaltic Snake River Plain aquifer. The model considers the
effects of convective transport, flow divergence, two-dimensional
hydraulic dispersion, radioactive decay and reversible linear ion
exchange or sorption.
