GROUND WATER BRANCH TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM NO. 73.02

Subject: INFORMATION - Copies of monequilibrium type curves
                        modified for two-well systems.

The Ground Water Branch has a limited supply of the subject type
curves, which were originally prepared by R. W. Stallman and
distributed with Ground Water Branch Note No. 3. A single copy is
being sent to each District office and additional copies are
available on request.

Ground Water Branch Note No. 3 was published in 1963 under the
heading, "Type curves for the solution of single boundary
problems", in Water Supply Paper 1545-C, "Shortcuts and Special
Problems in Aquifer Tests". However, the scale at which the type
curves were published are inconvenient to use because matching log
paper is not readily available. Graphs available from the Branch,
prepared to a scale of 3 inches per log cycle in each direction,
are at the scale of readily available log-log graph paper.

The curves are useful in analyzing aquifer-test data obtained near
either a constant head boundary, such as a stream, large lake, or
ocean; or, a zero-flow boundary, such as a valley wall or a
faulted aquifer. The curves might also be used to determine the
location and bearing of a hidden straight-line boundary, as
described by Stallman. For details on the theory and use of the
curves, the investigator should refer to Stallman's chapter in
Water-Supply Paper 1545-C.
