Subject: Committee on redefinitions of hydrologic terms as
applied to ground-water hydrology
This memorandum announces the appointment of a committee to
examine the terms used in ground-water hydrology, and to redefine
those terms that lack precise meaning. The Committee will meet at
intervals designated by the Chairman and forward its
recommendations to the Office of the Chief, Ground Water Branch
regarding the terms as redefined and the final media by which the
revised terms will be distributed to the field and made public to
the scientific community.
The Committee will consist of the following personnel.

Your contributions to the work of this Committee are solicited.
Ideas that you may have regarding changes in definitions should be
submitted to the Chief, Ground Water Branch within one month of
date of this memorandum. Your suggestions will be compiled and
distributed to the Committee prior to its first meeting.
