GROUND WATER BRANCH MEMORANDUM NO. 65.10
To: District Chiefs and Staff Officials
From: Chief, Ground Water Branch
Subject: PROGRAMS AND PLANS - Technical review and assistance on
sampling and soil-moisture
measurement
An increasing number of projects are involving the collection of
cores of rock and soil materials. We also have noted an increase
in the number of projects involving measurement of soil moisture,
especially with nuclear soil-moisture/density meters. In either
case, results are only as good as the sampling or moisture
measuring techniques employed.
Because of his extensive field and laboratory experience with
these techniques, we have asked Mr. A. I. Johnson to serve as
technical adviser for sampling and coring activities and for the
use of soil-moisture instruments. You are urged to take advantage
of Mr. Johnson's knowledge by requesting his consultation,
especially during the planning of such activities.
