GROUND WATER BRANCH MEMORANDUM NO. 64.33
To: District Chiefs and Staff Officials
From: Chief, Ground Water Branch
Subject: Technical Assistance - Wells suitable for heat-flow
measurement
The Theoretical Geophysics Branch is studying the distribution of
heat flow from the earth's crust and is having difficulty locating
wells or test holes that can be used for heat-flow measurements.
Because of our contact with and knowledge of so many wells, they
have asked us to help locate wells that will fulfill the rather
stringent requirements. The attached brochure, prepared by the
Theoretical Geophysics Branch, sets forth the specifications for
the type hole best suited to their needs.
If you now know of any wells that appear to be suitable, or hear
of such wells in the future, please inform us and we will pass on
the information.
