This data set contains the monitoring sites where water levels
        were collected and used to develop a spatial ground-water data
        base in Carson Valley, west-central Nevada. The ground-water
        data were collected from 48 shallow wells during a 3 week period
        in April and May 1998.
			</abstract>
<purpose>This data set was created to display the ground-water monitoring
        sites used to develop a spatial ground-water data base in Carson
        Valley, west-central Nevada. Ground-water data includes depths to
        water and ground-water altitudes.
			</purpose>
			<supplinf>
        Introduction
        This data set, created in cooperation with the State of Nevada
        Division of Environmental Protection, contains ground-water monitoring
        sites developed to be included in a spatial ground-water data base
        in Carson Valley, west-central Nevada. Location of the monitoring
        sites were determined in the field using a hand-held global
        positioning system (GPS). The data set was created in 1998, from a
        text file of latitude and longitude values. Land-surface altitude for
        each monitoring site was determined from 1:4,800-scale topographic
        maps. Water-level measurements were made using standard procedures
        for making water-level measurements with hand-held steel tapes.

        Reviews

        The digital data in this data set has gone through a rigorous,
        multi-level, quality-control process that ensures the data set
        is a fair representation of the source map. If errors are
        found in this data set, it will be appreciated if the
        user would pass this information to the Metadata_Contact.

        Two reviews were done. The reviewers were asked to check metadata
        and other documentation files for completeness and accuracy.
        Reviewers were asked to check the topological consistency, tolerances,
        projections, and geographic extent.
