<procdesc>Depths to the top of the Raton Formation were compiled from "scout cards" for wells in the on-line database of the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC). The altitude of the outcrop of the contact of the Raton Formation with the Poison Canyon Formation was interpolated from a geologic map (Johnson, 1969) at selected locations and the dTKr attribute was assigned a value of zero (0) feet. The data were used to generate the dTKr attribute in sir-06-5129_formation_tops_point.</procdesc>

<procstep>
<procdesc>The input data set (sir-06-5129_formation_tops_point) was screened to select locations where depth to the Raton Formation (dTKr attribute) was greater than zero (0) and the reported land-surface altitude was within 25 feet of the land-surface altitude that was interpolated from the NED (1/3 Arc-second resolution). The land-surface altitude at the reported geographic locations of the wells were interpolated from the National Elevation Dataset (1/3 Arc-second resolution). The altitude of the top of the Raton Formation was computed by subtracting the reported depth to the top from the interpolated land-surface altitude. The values were stored in the aTKr attribute of sir-06-5129_formation_tops_point.</procdesc>

<procdesc>
A geostatistical model of the altitude of the top of the Raton Formation was generated using the Geostatistcal Analyst extension. A Geostatistical Analyst model (raster data) of the top of the Raton Formation was created using Ordinary Kriging. The input points, the Z values, were selected values of the aTKr attribute in sir-06-5129_formation_tops_point that were greater than zero(0) feet. Selected values of the aTKr attribute are indicated by a "Yes' value in the aTKr_flag attribute in sir-06-5129_formation_tops_point.

The geostatistical model of the altitude of the top of the Raton Formation was run with the following parameters: Selected Method: Ordinary Kriging Output: Prediction Map Number of datasets in use: 1 Number of Points: 689 Order of Trend Removal: First (Estimated by Global Polynomial Interpolation) Ratio global to local drift: 1:0 Semivariogram/Covariance: Model: 249800*Spherical(42672)+8450.5*Nugget Error modeling: Microstructure: 8450.5 (100%) Measurement error: 0 (0%) Searching Neighborhood: Neighbors to Include: 5 or at least 2 for each angular sector Searching Ellipse: Angle: 0 Major Semiaxis: 42672 Minor Semiaxis: 42672 Angular Sectors: 4 Lag Size: 3600 Number of Lags: 12

The model fit (prediction error statistics) of the geostatistical model of the altitude of the top of the Raton Formation were: Mean: 1.04 Root-Mean-Square: 148 Average Standard Error: 134 Mean Standardized: 0.002 Root-Mean-Square Standardized: 1.00
