This data set was developed as part of the process for creating a regional hydrogeologic framework to examine the primary natural physical factors that affect the flow and chemistry of shallow ground water and small streams in the Mid-Atlantic Coastal Plain. It was used in combination with surficial sediment texture to delineate seven relatively contiguous hydrogeologic subregions. The arcs (geologic contacts) from the surficial geology that correspond to physiographic boundaries (mostly scarps) were selected and copied to the new coverage. This coverage was then rebuilt with polygon topology and attributed.
