The digital data set provides point locations and general
descriptions of areas photographed to document sites visited
during a study to refine current estimates of ground-water
discharge from the major discharge areas of the Death Valley
regional flow system. Photographs were taken 1994-99. Sites
were used as controls to better improve the delineation
of ET (evapotranspiration) units classified using spectral
methods throughout each of the major discharge areas.

used to verify the classification of ET units throughout the

			<supplinf>Introduction

The digital data set was created in cooperation with the
U.S. Department of Energy. The data set was created as
part of a study to refine current estimates of ground-water
discharge from the major discharge areas of the Death Valley
regional flow system.

Reviews

The digital data set has gone through a multi-level,
quality-control process to ensure that the data are a
reasonable representation of discharge-area boundaries.
Reviewers were asked to check metadata and other
documentation files for completeness and accuracy.
Reviewers also were asked to check the topological
consistency, tolerances, projections, and geographic extent.

Notes

Any use of trade, product, or firm names is for descriptive
purposes only and does not imply endorsement by the
U.S. Government. Although the data set has been used by the
U.S. Geological Survey, U.S. Department of the Interior, no
warranty expressed or implied is made by the U.S. Geological
Survey as to the accuracy of the data and related materials.

Although this Federal Geographic Data Committee-compliant
metadata file is intended to document the data set in
nonproprietary form, as well as in ArcInfo format, this
metadata file may include some ArcInfo-specific terminology.

Users should exercise caution and judgment in applying these
data, and be aware that errors may be present in any or
all of the digital image data. If errors are encountered
in this data set, it will be appreciated if the user would
pass this information to the Metadata_Contact.
