This dataset represents the transects used for hydrographic surveys of Emergent Sandbar Habitat at two sites near river miles 761.4 and 769.8 downstream of Gavins Point Dam on the Missouri River.
<purpose>Original transects were laid out from highbank to highbank, approximately perpendicular to the direction of flow, spaced approximately 500 feet apart, and extended approximately two miles upstream from the upstream ends of the construction zones and approximately two miles downstream from the downstream ends of the construction zones. For post-construction surveys, additional transects were added between the original transects near the constructed sandbars to provide additional detail.</purpose>

<logic>The approximate centerline of the Missouri River was digitized on-screen using 2003 aerial photography. Using Hypack software, transects were laid out approximately perpendicular to flow at spacings of approximately 500 feet. Transects extended from highbank to highbank approximately two miles upstream of the upstream end of each construction zone, and downstream approximately two miles from the downstream end of each construction zone. The transects were then used by Hypack for data collection. For post-construction data collection, additional transects were laid out between existing transects in the vicinities of the constructed sandbars.</logic>
