This data set consists of the administrative hydrographic area (HA) boundaries for Nevada at 1:750,000-scale and estimates of natural recharge, artificial recharge, pumpage, and net ground-water flow for each basin where the information is available. Formal hydrographic areas in Nevada were delineated systematically by the U.S. Geological Survey and Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Division of Water Resources (NDWR) in the late 1960's (Rush, 1968; Cardinalli and others, 1968) for scientific and administrative purposes. The official hydrographic area names, numbers, and geographic boundaries continue to be used in U.S. Geological Survey scientific reports and NDWR administrative activities. Although the boundary lines between hydrographic areas generally coincide with true topographic basin divides, some of the lines are arbitrary divisions that have no topographic control. The pumpage, recharge, and interbasin flow estimates were derived from a variety of sources and methods. The data were tabulated and published by Lopes and Evetts in 2004.

<horizpae>Errors resulting from the quality of the source map, the automation process, and the scale resolution can impact the accuracy of the data. The errors resulting from the quality of the source map and the automation process are unknown. The inherent error of a 1:750,000-scale map is approximately 320 meters according to the National Map Accuracy Standards of 1947.

The horizontal positional accuracy was verified by visual and manual comparison as described in the Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy_Report and the Process_Steps and matches the positional accuracy of the original source map. The horizontal positional error is deductively estimated at 350 meters.</horizpae>

HYD-AREA is the hydrographic-area number.

HYD-AREA-NAME is the hydrographic-area name.

SUBAREA-NAME is the hydrographic-area subarea name.

HYD-REGION is the hydrographic-region number.

HYD-REGION-NAME is the hydrographic-region name.

AREA-MI is the area in miles squared.

DESIGNATED is the designation status of the basin.

NATRECH_H is the highest natural recharge estimate from published sources.

NATRECH_L is the lowest natural recharge estimate from published sources.

ARTRECH is the total artificial recharge in the basin.

NETIBFLOW is the sum of interbasin flow estimates. Inflow are positive and outflow are negative values.

PUMPAGE is the total pumpage in the basin.

NETFLOW_H is the sum of high natural recharge, total artificial recharge, net interbasin flow, and total pumpage. Calculated only for basins where interbasin flow is estimated.

NETFLOW_L is the sum of low natural recharge, total artificial recharge, net interbasin flow, and total pumpage. Calculated only for basins where interbasin flow is estimated.

COMMENTS are explanation of recharge, interbasin flow, and pumpage.
