Summary

These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. This data set contains precipitation stations and precipitation-zone boundaries of west-central Nevada.

Purpose

The precipitation zones were developed for use with the precipitation-zone method, which uses elevation-based regression equations with defined precipitation zones to estimate 1971-2000 mean annual precipitation (Lopes and Medina, 2007.) The intended uses of this data set include, but are not limited to, natural resource modeling, mapping, and visualization applications.
