Summary

These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. Fanno Creek is a tributary to the Tualatin River and flows though parts of the southwest Portland metropolitan area. The stream is heavily influenced by urban runoff and shows characteristic flashy streamflow and poor water quality commonly associated with urban streams. Purpose

This data set was developed as part of an USGS carbon study that examines sources of carbon-rich organic material along Fanno Creek. In order to quantify how much material enters the stream, the different river and floodplain features needed to be defined. In this data set the vegetative cover was defined in order to represent the location and extent of vegetation available within the Fanno Creek floodplain.
