This coverage was derived from U.S. Geological Survey National
Elevation Dataset (NED) Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) for all of Ohio and portions of Indiana,
Michigan, Kentucky, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New York. The dataset is a raster grid
coverage representing a 30 meter grid cell size, or 1-arc second, and is in units of decimeters.
The various NED source datasets used to create this dataset came primarily from state agencies who
provide such data free of any fees or charges. More information about NED data can be found at
http://gisdata.usgs.net/NED/default.asp.
			</abstract>
			<purpose>This coverage was created to derive elevation and hydrography related characteristics
of selected drainage basins within Ohio and portions of surrounding states for use in regression
equations present by Koltun (2003). These characteristics include mean basin elevation, elevation at
basin centroid, and main-channel slope. Other hydrography related uses of DEMs include the analysis
of aspect, hill shade, flow accumulation, and flow direction. DEMs of 30 meter resolution are intended
to be used at scales of 1:24,000 and smaller.

			<attraccr>A plan for assessing the overall accuracy of the National Elevation Dataset (NED) based on independent
high-accuracy geodetic control is currently under development. Until an independent overall assessment
of the accuracy of NED is completed, it is best to refer to published information on the accuracy of the source digital elevation models (DEM's) from which NED was assembled. The primary source data were the
USGS 7.5-minute (30-meter or 10-meter resolution) DEM's. Gaps in the 7.5-minute DEM coverage were filled
with data from USGS 30-minute (2-arc-second resolution) or 1-degree (3-arc-second resolution) DEM's.
