Summary

These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. This dataset consists of a workspace (folder) containing 41 gridded datasets and a personal geodatabase. The gridded datasets consist of 28 precipitation-frequency grids, a mean annual precipitation grid, eight land cover grids, two soil permeability grids, a synthetic stream grid, and a region grid used in the Hawaii StreamStats application for peak flow estimates. Purpose

These datasets were produced to support the StreamStats application for Hawaii. The precipitation, land cover, and soil permeability grids are used to compute those characteristics for basins that have been edited by the user within the StreamStats web application. The same grids were used to compute continuous parameter grids. The continuous parameter grids are distributed with the ArcHydroHUC data sets for each 8-digit HUC, and are used in characteristic computations for unedited basins. The region grid is used to identify which regional regression equations to apply for estimating streamflow statistics in Hawaii. The exclusion polygons are used to restrict or prevent use of the StreamStats application in areas where results may be invalid, or where its use is to be prevented for various reasons.
