			<abstract>These data are in support of report DS 456 (Arnold and others, 2009).  This grid represents the depth to groundwater in the High Plains Aquifer in Colorado in 2000.  The depth-to-water grid was generated for the entire High Plains Aquifer from depth-to-water measurements collected in 2000.  Shown as figure 12 in McMahon and others (2007).</abstract>
			<purpose>This depth-to-water grid was used as input in designing a well network to sample groundwater for agricultural chemicals in areas of agricultural irrigation overlying the High Plains Aquifer in Colorado.  The grid was used to determine areas where the depth to water was less than 180 feet below land surface.  Work was done in cooperation with the Colorado Department of Agriculture.</purpose>

To derive a better water-table surface where there was believed to be connection between rivers and the aquifer in the northern and central High Plains, the river stages were entered as representing the water table along the rivers. The water levels were interpolated using Kriging methods.</procdesc>
