This polygon data set documents the spatial extent of polygon files included in a release of enhanced U.S. Geological Survey historical land-use and land-cover data.
			<purpose>These polygon features should be used to identify land-use and land-cover data sets included in this release of USGS historical land-use and land-cover data.</purpose>
			<supplinf>
This data set is released as part of an enhanced version of previously published USGS land-use and land-cover data, edited to perform attribute and geographic corrections, recast to the North American Horizontal Datum of 1983, and reformatted to the commonly used geospatial data file formats.

Downloaded index coverage from the EPA GIRAS FTP site, and did edits to make it align with data set tiles. Edits required included modification of edge locations for a few mapsheets and addition of tile polygons for Alaska and Hawaii. Projected results to NAD83 coordinates.

Note: the mapsheet boundaries are NAD27 mapsheet boundaries, so they do not exactly line of with NAD83 latitude and longitude lines.
